Responsibilities:
Tasks:
* Determine type of glass, frames and material required
* Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
* Measure, mark and cut glass
* Position and secure panes in frame
* Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products
* Install door, window and other hardware
* Repair glass doors and other glass structures
* Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment
* Operate CADD and other computer software systems
* Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
* Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes and other lifting equipment
* Operate process control machinery to cut glass or assemble glass window units

* Float glass
* Sealed units

Frame fabrication and installation:
* Curtain wall (stock length material)
* Curtain wall (prefabricated material)
* Spandrel panel installations
* Aluminum framing members

Glass cutting equipment and techniques:
* Computerized cutters
* Temper glass
* Tint glass

Installation specialization:
* Skylights and slope glazed installations
* Aluminum storefronts, barrel vaults, solariums, commercial window systems
